A recent survey conducted by the American Pet Products Association revealed that nearly half of all pet parents allow their pets to sleep with them at night. Clearly it’s a common practice, as for many dog lovers, it is extremely comforting to share a bed with their beloved puppies at night. but of course some still prefer to keep their doggies on the ground to prevent them from carrying fur and dirt into the bed. So how good or bad is it to sleep with your dog in the same bed ?
In this matter, Inside Edition carried on a little test to find out what is it the dogs might bring into our sleeping place, the test consisted on swabbing the paws of a couple of different dogs, and the result was that the least of our worries would be fur and dirty bed as it turned out that the dogs were carrying multiple types of bacteria and fungi, including E.coli. which all the tested dogs had and a bug that can cause pneumonia and meningitis.
Check the video below to see what they found on the doggies paws.
If you have a dog that you allow to sleep with you in the same place, would you still allow him?
Personally, I’m not sure I could keep my dog off my sleeping bed, but after seeing this test, I will definitely take some precautions to keep my doggie cleaner.
